ou will need:

  • A foam tray (like the kind meat comes in) or a piece of non-currogated cardboard
  • A tray, bowl, or cookie sheet full of water
  • Liquid dish soap
  • A toothpick

What to do:

Cut the foam tray or cardboard into a boat shape as shown below:
soapboat1A good size seems to be about 2 inches long.
Dip the toothpick into the liquid soap and use the toothpick to put soap onto the sides of the notch at the back of the boat.
That’s it! Now carefully place the boat onto the surface of the water and watch it scoot across the water for several seconds – you’ve made a soap-powered boat! To demonstrate the boat again, you will need to rinse out the tray to remove any soap from the previous demonstration.

How does it work?

Soap is a surfactant – that means that it breaks down the surface tension of water.  As the surface tension is broken up, it creates enough of a force to push the lightweight boat across the surface.

MAKE IT AN EXPERIMENT

The project above is a DEMONSTRATION. To make it a true experiment, you can try to answer these questions:
  1. Does liquid soap last longer than a solid piece of soap?
  2. Does warm water work better than cold water?
  3. What materials make the best floating boat?

9 Fakta Menarik Mengenai Dinosaur

NO 9 - Nama Dinosaur Terpanjang

NO 8 - Dinosaur Tertua

NO 7 - Dinosaur Berlari Tercepat

NO 6 - Dinosaur Dengan Otak Terkecil

NO 5 - Dinosaur Paling Tangkas

NO 4 - Telur Dinosaur Yang Terkecil

NO 3 - Dinosaur Terkecil

NO 2 - Dinosaur Terberat

Dinosaurus terberat adalah Brachiosaurus, yang beratnya sekitar

Make an Egg Float in Salt Water
An egg sinks to the bottom if you drop it into a glass of ordinary drinking water but what happens if you add salt? The results are very interesting and can teach you some fun facts about density.

What you'll need:
  • One egg
  • Water
  • Salt
  • A tall drinking glass

Instructions:
  1. Pour water into the glass until it is about half full.
  2. Stir in lots of salt (about 6 tablespoons).
  3. Carefully pour in plain water until the glass is nearly full (be careful to not disturb or mix the salty water with the plain water).
  4. Gently lower the egg into the water and watch what happens.

What's happening?
Salt water is denser than ordinary tap water, the denser the liquid the easier it is for an object to float in it. When you lower the egg into the liquid it drops through the normal tap water until it reaches the salty water, at this point the water is dense enough for the egg to float. If you were careful when you added the tap water to the salt water, they will not have mixed, enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass.

Carnivorous Plants – Plants That Eat Meat

Most of the time, plants are the ones that get eaten, but every now and then, a plant gets revenge. Some plants are carnivores. This means that they eat meat! Now, they certainly don’t eat steak, but they’re happy to feast on the occasional bug that crosses their path.
Venus fly  traps are probably the most famous carnivorous plants. These plants have a pair of thick, padded leaves that are covered with tiny hairs. When a fly touches the hairs – SNAP – the leaves shut like two powerful jaws. The plant releases enzymes that break down the fly’s insides into a soup. Dinner is served.
